Workshop on Design Thinking (Protecting IPR and IP Management for Startups)

Date: 29 July 2026

A Workshop on Design Thinking (Protecting IPR and IP Management for Startups) was organized by Kristu Jayanti Institute of Management (KJIM) on 29/07/2026. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. D. D. Ravindran, President, Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), as a continuation of the previous Faculty Empowerment Session on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), with a specific focus on the next stage of Design Registration. The workshop provided hands-on training to enable faculty members to transform their innovative ideas into registerable product designs by guiding them through design conceptualization, preparation of design views, drafting of application content, and the documentation required for design registration. Participants actively presented their design concepts, refined them through expert guidance and feedback, and prepared draft application documents under the mentorship of the resource person. The interactive session significantly enhanced the faculty members' confidence in independently creating and registering original designs while equipping them to mentor students and fellow educators in design thinking, innovation, and Intellectual Property Rights, thereby fostering a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation within the institution. As a tangible outcome of the workshop, 20 innovative designs were conceptualized and developed by the faculty members of Kristu Jayanti Institute of Management. The completed design applications were subsequently submitted to the IPR Cell, Kristu Jayanti University, for registration under the Designs Act, 2000.
