Kristu Jayanti Institute of Management (KJIM) organised a Professor of Practice lecture titled "Macro Economy and Business Strategy: What Every Future Manager Should Know" on 23rd September 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. R. Gandhi, Former Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and Non-Executive Chairman (Part-Time), YES Bank. The lecture provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the role of microeconomic and macroeconomic factors in shaping business outcomes. Dr. Gandhi examined how key macroeconomic indicators including Gross Domestic Product (GDP), inflation, interest rates, and unemployment influence business performance and inform managerial decision-making. Drawing upon contemporary economic developments in India, he substantiated these concepts through pertinent real-world illustrations, thereby enabling students to appreciate the interplay between the macroeconomic environment and business strategy. The discussion underscored the imperative of continuously monitoring economic trends and proactively managing business uncertainty in a dynamic economic landscape. Students were encouraged to critically evaluate economic developments from a managerial standpoint and to appreciate the value of informed, evidence-based decision-making. By integrating practitioner perspectives from the banking and financial sector with classroom learning, the session deepened students' understanding of how prevailing economic conditions shape organisational strategy and enhanced their capacity to analyse macroeconomic developments and their implications for business. Overall, the lecture offered a valuable learning experience, effectively bridging economic theory with managerial practice and equipping students with practitioner insights essential for navigating an evolving economic environment.
